LGBTQ Support and Information
Great Academy Ashton are working towards the Rainbow Flag Award.
We are demonstrating a commitment to improve the lives of all young people we work with, through a focussed initiative to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) inclusion.
This includes but is not limited to improving the lives of LGBT pupils, LGBT staff, and LGBT parents.
As an inclusive and diverse academy we expect our students to take responsibility for any LGBTQ discrimination. View our LGBTQ Pupil Infomation.
To further support the LGBTQ community Great Academy Ashton values the importance of educating our students, especially in the use of language. Often this can be confusing for young people and adults. Please view our glossary of terms.
Within Tameside there is a vast amount of help and support for young people and their families. Please click on the link for further local information https://www.tameside.gov.uk/sid/lgbt
LGBTOUTLOUD is the local free confidential service to LGBT young people in the Tameside area, offering guidance, support and a safe place to discuss issues that surround them. The group is based in Ashton-Under-Lyne centre every Tuesday evening between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Please click on the link for further information https://lgbtoutloud.wordpress.com/
