Another year and another set of record-breaking results for our inspirational young people here at Great Academy Ashton. Once again, our students have shown themselves to be resilient, dedicated and focussed learners and today are receiving life changing results.
Great Academy Ashton students have today received their GCSE, BTEC and OCR National results and have broken the previous examination records and have achieved outstanding results which give them their passport to their next stage in learning, college, sixth form and beyond.
Principal, Mr David Waugh, said “…I am simply in awe of everything our young people have achieved and the great positive impact our staff have had. This year group have faced adversity not seen by generations for over 75-years and they have simply “smashed it”! Their results are so very well deserved and are a great reward for their unwavering dedication to their studies and their participation in school life. We ask our students to “…be the best possible version of themselves” in every aspect of school life and this year group has certainly done that, surpassing the previous examination records set. I am truly humbled to see how well each and every one of them has achieved in their GCSE and BTEC qualifications”.
Great Academy Ashton Class of 2022 have achieved outstanding results and they all now move on to college and their next stages in life with a passport of qualifications to allow them to continue this success into their futures.
Today is about every single one of our 271 students and their own individual achievements. With students gaining exceptional attainment and progress outcomes and the competition for that top attainment spot was fierce. Every student has their own story and their own challenges that they have overcome.
The battle for “top spot” was keenly fought with Tia Mistry taking the crown by achieving top grades across the board with nine Grade 9’s and a Distinction Star, she quite literally could not have achieved higher grades!! Tia is off to study maths and science A-Levels at Ashton Sixth Form College. Tia was closely followed by Hafsa Ali who achieved eight Grade 9’s, a Grade 8 and a Distinction Star. Again, Hafsa is off to study maths and sciences and will be studying at Blue Coat Sixth Form. There have been amazing successes across the board and crucially, the top spot for progress has gone to Faiza Mazhar Iqbal Hussain who has achieved her 9 GCSEs surpassing each one of them by over 2½ grades above target. This was closely followed by Lois Cooper who achieved his 9 GCSEs at exactly 2½ grades above target for each and every single one.
Great Academy Ashton traditionally delivers an inclusive academic and vocational curriculum and our cohort of students this year have achieved brilliant results in their full range of subjects. Our students have studied a vast range of exciting academic and vocational courses ranging from GCSE Spanish to Computing, from English to mathematics, from Film Studies to Sport Science. It has been a genuine privilege to support them on their journey to success and we all wish them the very best of luck for their future learning and careers ahead.
